Mission Statement
Our mission is to invite, inspire and equip people for a maturing relationship with God through Jesus Christ – to make a positive difference in the world.
Welcome Statement
(adopted by vote of the Congregation, November 18, 2012)
Portage United Church of Christ has a rich tradition of being a welcoming congregation. No matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!
We affirm that each individual is uniquely created and loved by God. We recognize that we are called to be one body with many members.
We affirm that we are a welcoming community to all people, regardless of faith background, beliefs or doubts, age, color, gender, nationality, physical, mental, or emotional ability, or economic or social status.
We affirm that we welcome all people regardless of marital standing, family structure, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. We welcome all into the full life and ministry of the church.
While we do not all think or believe exactly the same things, we are united by the love of God and a vision of greater hope for our world.
We seek to grow in our understanding of a God who still speaks and commands us to love each other while serving others. You are welcome here just as you are.

Portage United Church of Christ seeks to be:
An open, welcoming, and inclusive community where no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you will find acceptance, nurture and opportunities for growing in Christian faith.
A prayerfully discerning community of all ages that is open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and that strives together to worship, learn and serve as an integral part of our daily lives.
A proactive community challenging us to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of God’s children both within and beyond our church’s walls.
A responsible community that uses resources wisely, communicates effectively and is well-organized to fulfill the mission of the Church.
